Coring and Scanning at 3 Bridges
Perform concrete coring and GPR scanning at predetermined locations on 3 bridges.
Key tasks
Coordination of traffic management and safety planning
To extract 10 concrete cores for compressive and chloride testing.
To conduct GPR scanning on the bridge deck, underside, abutments, piers and wing walls to determine steel reinforcement size and location as design drawings did not exist.
To report GPR findings clearly and simply to the client.
Deliverables
0110 x concrete cores delivered to the client.
021 x report detailing findings from GPR scans on all core locations.

Outcome
The client received a clear and in-depth insight into: (1) the assets’ concrete durability; (2) the steel reinforcement location and size. This information allowed the client to confidently calculate the redesign and quantify the scope of works for the pending bridge upgrades.
